Understanding Your Feelings
Feeling Good About Yourself
Everyone has feelings. Feelings are the way we react to other people and to the things that happen around us. You might have different feelings about something than others might. For example, you might feel excited about going to a new school. But someone else might feel worried about making new friends at a new school.
Feelings are not good or bad. However, feelings can control you if you do not know what to do with them. Learning about your feelings can help you control them.
How you feel about yourself is important. Treat yourself the same way you would treat a good friend. Being a fried to yourself means respecting yourself. When you respect yourself, you stand up for your ideas. You take good care of yourself.
Being a friend to yourself also means being responsible. When you are responsible, people can count on you. You do what you are supposed to do. Part of being responsible also means being honest.
